Yi Chen is Christensen fellow at the Ashmolean (  I first met Weimin He when he held that post. )

She and Shelagh Vainker curated this delightful exhibition.

I can recommend it if you need to slow down, relax and enjoy a taste of beauty.

 Art during the Cultural Revolution

Xu Bing like most educated youth of his generation was sent to work as a peasant in the To the Mountain and Countryside Movement . I reviewed an earlier exhibition about the art of that period(1966-1976) when traditional Chinese landscape painting was frowned upon and Western art was  regarded as capitalist and criminal.
